My passion

My passion for the Spitz goes back a long way in fact when I was a child. Born and living in Paris, I used to come on vacations to my grandparents who lived in a small village on the Atlantic coast. Each year at the village funfair, the lady in charge of one of the roundabout had near her a large cage with tiny little red fluffy balls playing together. I was fascinated. This picture will for ever be marked in my memory.
Although I always had small animals in the house (cats, mice, birds, guinea pigs) I never had a dog, in an appartment not always suitable. After my marriage to André, and once my three children were grown up, I came back to live in the area of my childhood and then I wished very much for the first time to have a dog of my own. I had a female chow-chow with which I started the shows. And it was during one of the shows that I saw my little red fluffy balls again : the Poms (dwarf Spitz) that I loved and admired so much when I was a little girl.

So it all started in 1982 with the acquisition of "Ch.Troubadour DU VAL ISABELLE" from the best french breeder at the time. He became my first Champion of France. About the same time came "Ch. Urielle du Castel des Templiers" she was of italian line and gave me some wonderful babies like Ch. Geminy, Ch. Djenna , Ch. Gin-Fizz etc ... But with the french lines it was very difficult and hard to get the superb baby faces which I was looking for. Naturally I looked well beyond the frontiers and the possibility of importations. Being very picky on the quality and the type of dog I wanted, I managed to import from Germany the spectacular Champion "Joker EL-CHIQUITIN'S" who had american lines (Tiniest Toy's). It's really with him that I started my passion for the shows. Afterwards came "Ch.QuickSilver EL-CHIQUITIN'S" mother of the famous Ch.Elton and Ch. Elfie DU BOIS DE MOQUE-SOURIS.

Two trips at Crufts in 1987 and 1988 allowed me to meet Mrs Dykes (well known kennel Hadleigh) and to have several contacts with english breeders. This is when I had from Mrs Mason the superb Ch.SABLEWAYS Chamalow followed by SABLEWAYS British. Chamalow was an exceptional stud, and with his Paddockwood line I have really succeeded. Then the next one was the young "Ch. LESHILDA Little Blue Star", son of the celebrated champion EMEDALE Home Brew who came from England as well (Mrs Rolison).

Mixing those two english lines, I bred the first cream bitch in France "Ch.Houlala DU BOIS DE MOQUE-SOURIS" who became World Champion in 1995, and my very first "Pom Star" Ch.Lafayette DU BOIS DE MOQUE-SOURIS, Gadgett's son. For four years he won the first places and also had 11 Best In Show all breeds.

Always wanting to progress, I looked further again accross the Atlantic. Reading various reviews, I found the poms of my dreams, the "Chriscendo". Through my contacts with Chris Heartz, I found that she and I had the same vision of the pom breeding, and here we developped friendship and complicity. During my visit in Canada, Chris gave me such great pleasure to allow me to have the famous Ch.Calvin Klein's son : gorgeous Ch.CHRISCENDO Cloudbuster (Phil). I brought him back from Canada under my arm, he was such a treasure. I had admired him so many times, when I was looking at his photos and now here he was in France on my lap. Today he is thirteen years old, he is still the pom of my dreams. I shall never thank Chris enough to have let me have him.

Then other poms came from the States and became Champions in Europe :
- from Jeanne Blank : Int.Fr.Ch.JAN-SHAR'S Absolutely Magical (Maggie), daughter of the famous Ch.ABSOLUTE'S Magic Mountain

- from Genny Dupre (I had so much admired Buster, Casino and the others) : Ch.DUPRE'S SPARKLING GOLD Oliver, then DUPRE'S SPARKLING GOLD Ripley, they have just had two little boys.

- and the lastest arrival came from Mari Iffland : MARBIL'S Piece of The Action (Sandy), who is the daughter of Ch. MARBIL'S Game of Chance (Fire).

Working on the two lines, Chriscendo and Jan-Shar's, I had the immense pleasure and such luck to produce my Ch.Rominet DU BOIS DE MOQUE-SOURIS. At two years of age, he already has 6 BIS all breeds. He has got outstanding, movement and coat of the Chriscendo from his father, as well as the face and the warm orange color of his mother Maggie (Int.Fr.Ch.JAN-SHAR'S Absolutely Magical).

Today I am retired (I was a school teacher), I can spend all my time to my passion : my dogs first, then the French Spitz Club as a member of the committee and as "Expert-Confirmateur". In the standard FCI which I am including, you can see that Germany (country who originally produced the standard) impose on us very stricts rules in respect of the sizes and colors. As an "Expert-Confirmateur" of the breed, I make sure that all these rules are respected and give after examination of the dog (when he is a year old) the right of reproduction and obtain the final pedigree.

It is now twenty years since I have bred poms and my dogs have won in Europe more than a hundred titles of National Championship (France, Luxembourg, Germany), International Championship, Europe Championship and five times World Championship.

All my dogs live in my house, no kennel or cages and I always keep my old ones until the end.
